The Tesla Fridge - 40L Refrigerator for Model X

I like the size and speed of cooldown of this unit. I wish they offered a replacement panel that allowed for airflow and would allow me to keep the floor flat. I think they originally came with one but I guess they removed it from the fridge package. Wish it still came with it because when my subtrunk panel accidentally closes, the unit over heats and shuts down. This is why I give it a 3 star.

I bought this for my Model X 2024. The fridge does not perfectly fit the subtrunk of the 2024 Model X, and the instruction is outdated (probably written for earlier Model X).

However, I was able to make it work by putting the buffer at the bottom to level the fridge.

The depth and the height were good. I wish it was wider to make full use of Model X's subtrunk space. The subtrunk lid closes perfectly though.

Cooling works great. Reaches desired temprature even if it's hot.

One caveat is that new Tesla doesn't turn on the 12V outlet at the Sentry mode. Camp mode needs to be turned on to enable the 12V outlet. This is not a big deal since the cabin needs to be cool for the fridge to work properly --- I don't want to overheat the fridge. Again, the description/instruction is outdated.

Fits perfectly in subtrunk and includes foam wedge inserts to support the fridge along the tapered Model X subtrunk. Cools to 0C from room temp in 30 minutes or less. Very quiet. Positive strong latch to keep lid closed. Gasketed edge. LCD panel easy to use. DC cord included and many aftermarket power supplies also work with this freezer. The LCD light inside is a nice touch. Have used it on grocery trips to Costco and in one instance, wasn't able to finish my ice cream cone so put it in the freezer. Was able to finish it 2 hours later and it did not melt!. Really happy with unit.

I purchased the TeslaFridge Portable Fridge / Freezer for my Tesla Model X Performance and it is definitely a must have! As you can see by the attached photos, it fits inside the rear sub-trunk and can be left uncovered or the sub-trunk cover fits right over the top if you wish. This is so much better than the low priced thermoelectric coolers that I have used in the past. A thermoelectric cooler only cools to around 40 F degrees less than the surrounding temperature. The TeslaFridge is a real fridge / freezer with a cooling compressor, so it will get cold enough to keep things frozen if you set the temperature to do so. You can monitor and adjust the temperature through the smart app or on the fridge control panel. We use it on road trips to keep beverages and snacks cold. And it is great for grocery store trips by keeping things refrigerated so you don't have to rush back home to put things in the home fridge. The unit arrived packaged very well inside of two layers of thick cardboard outer boxes with foam packaging inside. Very well protected for shipment. The TeslaFridge company has been great at answering all of my questions though email. I highly recommend this company and their great customer service matched with an excellent product!

We bought this for our Model X because I spend a LOT of weekends travelling all over Southern California for our daughter's soccer team and I was constantly carting around freezer bags with ice packs to try to keep drinks and food cold. We've just come back from our first tournament weekend using the Acopower freezer and it worked brilliantly! Chills fast, kept everything icy cold and it used surprisingly little of the Tesla's battery.

I would actually give 4.5 stars if that was an option, docking half a point because:

1) Not a huge deal, but we were expecting a perfect fit in the subtrunk as though it were designed into the car. In reality, it does fit completely in that space but there is space on either side and it is clearly an "add-on". You can close the subtrunk lid to hide the freezer but if you leave it propped open (as opposed to lifting it out) the freezer lid won't stay open while you load/unload it.

2) A bit of a pain that the freezer is only bluetooth accessible from the app so you have to be in range of the freezer to check or adjust temperature

3) Set-up was a bit more cumbersome than expected... we had to go searching for answers for settings to get it to work, such as you have to put your Tesla into "camping" mode in order for the power to stay on to keep it chilling.

Top tip: At least in the 2016 Model X, the "cigarette lighter" port is placed in an annoying position for this freezer because the charger then blocks the subtrunk lid from being able to simply lift up or down while the freezer is plugged in... you have to either unplug it or awkwardly lift the lid out completely at an angle. We purchased a $15 Cigarette Lighter Splitter with a low-profile plug which allows the lid to pass up and down (and provides extra charging portals as a bonus)
